A Southwest Airlines pilot, identified as 52-year-old David Allsop from New Hampshire, was arrested on Wednesday morning at Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport after reportedly showing up to work intoxicated. Authorities apprehended Allsop around 7 a.m. following allegations of driving under the influence.

The arrest occurred just before Southwest Flight 3772 was scheduled to depart for Chicago. The flight, initially set to take off early that morning, experienced a delay of nearly four hours but ultimately departed at 11 a.m.
In a statement, Southwest Airlines confirmed, “We’re aware of a situation involving an employee on Flight 3772 this morning from Savannah. The employee has been removed from duty.”
The incident underscores the strict regulations and expectations surrounding airline safety and the role of pilots, as aviation authorities continue to prioritize the well-being of passengers. The airline has yet to disclose further details about potential disciplinary actions against Allsop.
